Mechanical Engineer – Multiple Positions

Summary: 

The Mechanical Engineer III is a member of the Panel Engineering Group, focused on designing new hardware modules and transitioning prototype mechanical concepts into existing equipment. The incumbent will perform detailed engineering reviews of new designs and prototype module performance versus established specifications and develop improvements as required. It is expected that the candidate will include formal design and analysis tools such as FEA, DFA, DFM, Cost-Benefit, FMEA, SPC, and Root Cause Analysis as part of that work. The candidate will also assist in creating test plans to verify functional performance and evaluate module robustness as well as execute life cycle testing. The position requires generation of assembly drawings and associated documentation for the formal release of engineering designs to production.

Key Responsibilities and Duties / Essential Functions:

  • Perform evaluation and redesign of new or existing prototypes for performance, DF(X), and cost improvements
  • Make substantive contributions to decisions regarding design and fabrication and assembly techniques
  • Generate all required layout, assembly, and detail drawings within the guidelines of documented Configuration Control procedures
  • Develop performance and life cycle test plans as well as execute these plans
  • Assume a lead role in the assembly, debug, and test of any new hardware designs
  • Create and test next generation process hardware sub-systems incorporating a diverse spectrum of mechanical, material, and fabrication technologies in an innovative and fast-paced environment
  • Plan project requirements and specifications; prepare and present project status reports
  • Projects include:
    • Improvement of current system capabilities
    • System failure analysis to identify root causes and devise engineering solutions
    • Identify opportunities for product improvement and propose new solutions
    • Evaluate costs/benefit to support product goals and proposals

Education and Experience:

  •  BS in Mechanical Engineering. (MS is preferred, but not required)
  • 6-8 years of experience is required, preferably in semiconductor manufacturing equipment

 Qualifications and Skills:

  • Entrepreneurial spirit with rigorous engineering design and experimentation skills
  • Experience with invention and development of complex mechanical systems
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team consisting of other engineers, manufacturing, service, and process engineering personnel
  • Working knowledge of materials, tolerances, drawing standards, and machine shop practices
  • Familiarity with a range of industry-standard part fabrication and finishing methods/technologies
  • High proficiency of 3-Dimensional Computer Aided Design using SOLIDWORKS
  • Experience with PLM or PDM software, specifically Solidworks EPDM
  • Experience with standard ECN/ECO processes
  • Experience with quality initiatives such as ISO, TQM, and Six Sigma
  • Knowledge of semiconductor equipment and wafer processing
  • Understanding of experimental design and hypothesis testing
  • Ability and willingness to travel
